Hold your phone still, looking ahead with the ground in sight.
Tilt your phone down a little so the ground is in view.
The camera needs detail to lock onto. Grass, gravel, brick and dirt work well. Water, wet sand, snow, glass and plain flat surfaces give it very little to hold, so the scene may drift or wobble.
Aiming at the sky or straight down at your feet leaves nothing nearby to track. Hold the phone roughly level and look ahead at the ground.
Fast spins and sudden movements can lose tracking. Walk gently and give it a moment to settle. Tap the reset button to place the scene again in front of you.
Very dim light, harsh glare and strong shadows all make tracking harder. Open shade or even daylight is best.
The experience needs the camera. If you dismissed the permission prompt, reload the page and choose Allow. On iPhone, check Settings then Safari then Camera.
Open the link in Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android. Browsers built into apps like Instagram, Facebook or Slack often block camera and motion access.
Reload the page and start again. Turning off Low Power Mode can also help, since it limits the performance the experience needs.
Lady Acland's plan was so bold that a British general remarked "... delivering herself to the enemy, probably at night and uncertain of what hands she might first fall into, appears an effort above human nature."
